In a sermon broadcast to thousands of ZCC church congregants across the globe on Sunday Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi said congregants must not sit idly complaining that no one is giving them jobs but establish business projects and engage in entrepreneurship.
He said Christ told the labourers on a vineyard to go into the vineyard and work, as read in Matthew 20 vs. 6-7.
“God put Adam into the garden of Eden to till and protect it,” he emphasized, imploring ZCC members to acquire skills and to farm the land.
The Bishop often teaches that God is pleased with the cultivation of fields, quoting Ecclesiastes 5 vs. 9.
He called on all citizens of Zimbabwe to till the land and to become self-sufficient hard workers.
The leader of ZCC commended the farming activities underway at Mbungo Estates, which is nestled 50 kilometres from Masvingo along the Masvingo-Mutare highway.
Currently, over 120 hectares are under maize at the estate, with a bumper harvest expected this year.
The previous winter season saw over 80 hectares of wheat produced.
Congregants in Zion were taught that if they want their businesses to prosper, they must not only plan but also initiate and run the business well. “Write it, read it and run it,” he said.
“All businesses need proper records, planning, bank statements, and even God’s business needs record-keeping,” he added.
He told church members not to squander the revenue that comes in but to reinvest it.
“Make that money breed more money, because Christ teaches about multiplying what is there,” he said.
Christ also taught that his business must multiply and thrive. He taught that people must take care of themselves by working with their hands for six days as God commanded, and as read in Acts 20 vs. 28.
The Bishop taught against associating with scoffers, the slothful and sinners, as read in Psalms 1 vs. 1. He told congregants to delight in God’s statutes, like David did.
He emphasised that if congregants delight themselves in God’s law, he will give them the desires of their hearts, quoting Psalms 37 vs. 4.
