The head of the Zion Christian Church Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi says although more than 30 people died following the Chipinge bus disaster, that 70 people survived was a great miracle.
He said this last week soon after visiting the scene of the accident, adding that he could not believe anyone could have survived such a horrific accident.
The accident happened on the night of 14 April when a bus carrying members of the church from Chimanimani and travelling to Mbungo for the Easter celebrations veered off the road and rolled several times before landing down a steep slope.
Bishop Mutendi said the fact that at least 70 people had survived was a clear demonstration of the goodness of God, adding that those who survived the tragic accident must now preach the power of the Almighty to the world.
Witnesses at the accident blackspot said the bus is the fifth vehicle to plunge down the slope.
Two minibuses with church members from Gutu today left for Chipinge to go and witness the goodness of God in sparing so many lives and to comfort the affected.
Meanwhile, members of the church have already started contributing to a disaster fund set up to cater for the survivors and affected families.
Those in South Africa have already contributed R90 000, while those in the United Kingdom have so far raised £1 000.
The Zimbabwe chapter is planning to raise at least US$42 000 from its 34 regions, with well-wishers invited to contribute.
