His Grace Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi has reminded his followers that the Zion Christian Church is a church founded and guided by the Holy Spirit, advising them not to neglect their spirituality.
He said we must listen to the voice of the spirit, as the Lord Jesus Christ speaks to us in the spirit.
It is the spirit of God that resides in us that gives us a feeling or craving to pray and to worship him, he said.
He explained how COVID-19 had disrupted many things across the globe including gatherings such as Easter, and other church conferences.
It had even affected the Olympic Games, football matches and many other activities across the globe.
“This is God speaking to the world, for he does not speak in noisy winds of chaotic disorder,” said the Bishop.
Bishop Mutendi added that it is at such a time that Christians needed to redouble prayer and meditating on God’s word, urging church members to attend all church activities, many of which were now conducted online.
He said those who wrote the Bible were moved by the Holy Spirit, and the Bible had little to do with intellectual thinking.
He added that by using our natural sight only, without spiritual eyes, we will not see most things.
He also taught that even though the Lord was not a natural thing like wind, fire or water that we see or feel, during the era of the prophet Elijah he came and spoke to him in a faint, soft voice.
“Hagar did not see the water spring in the wilderness, but the angel of the Lord found it for her,” as we read in Genesis 16 vs. 7.
He reminded listeners that in Isaiah 45 vs. 3 the Lord said he would give treasures of darkness and riches hidden in secret places.
To emphasise this, he gave the example of the people in Marange, Manicaland Province who unexpectedly spotted diamonds in an area they had lived for generations without knowing that such precious stones were abundant.
